Our Purpose
The UTSC Grants Committee seeks to provide members with opportunities to continue to learn and grow. We do this by offering several grant opportunities:
Book grants of up to $100 for members to purchase professional texts of their choice or books on social justice-related topics to use with students in their classrooms.
Conference/Workshop Grants of up to $500 for members to attend professional learning opportunities of their choice, including CTA conferences.
Professional Membership or Subscription grants of up to $100 for members to support membership in a professional organization or subscription service related to teaching and learning.
Our Committee Goals
Provide opportunities for our members to keep learning and growing professionally in ways that they choose
Reach as many members as possible through our grants
How We Work
Our committee has four grant application cycles a year (fall, winter, spring, summer) where we read and decide which applications to fund.
Some of our work is conducted via email, we decide on grants via email, virtual meetings, or in-person meetings depending on the time of year.
We connect quarterly around grant deadlines
Most applications receive funding if they meet the criteria.
Our current budget is $20,000 for this work.
Our Criteria/Policies for Funding Grants
Applications will be prioritized by submission date and available funds. Teachers are eligible to receive one of each grant each year. If funds are limited, priority is given to first time applicants.
